Carrie Peterson

Carrie Peterson works in digital health for the World Health Organization Regional Office for Europe in the Division of Health Systems and Public Health. Here, she supports European Member States to overcome challenges in adopting digital technologies to strengthen health systems, and to explore fast-track approaches to digitalization for public health action. She contributes through evaluation of and advice for strengthening national health systems through digital technologies, research and knowledge-sharing, and establishing and promoting global, regional and local partnerships and collaboration.

She is a gerontologist specializing in technological solutions for dementia care. She has a background in psychology and human/social services, her MSc in Gerontology and PhD in Electronic Systems where her research involved developing, integrating, and evaluating smart home technologies for in-home dementia care. Carrie has been involved in multiple international projects, with start-up companies, and in public health and social care services both at the local and national levels. She has been part of multiple interdisciplinary teams, including patients as co-creators of services, and has a passion for generating meaningful outcomes through innovation.
